Take a small step towards a B.S. in Information Technology

NJIT Weekend University for high tech professionals is a flexible academic program designed for working adults that offers an opportunity to earn a B.S. in Information Technology (B.S. IT). While heading back to school as an adult is not easy, the degree program enables adults to take a small step by studying part-time through a combination of classroom and online learning. A 24-credit Undergraduate Certificate is the first credential earned in progress towards the full degree. In this way, working adults earn two credentials for the price of one. Undergraduate Certificates are available in:
  • Essentials of Network Applications
  • Essentials of Information Systems Management

  • Flexible Study Schedule

The program is designed to accomodate the lifestyle of working adults. All classes are on Friday evening and Saturdays, and either meet on campus once per week or every other week while students study online throughout the semester. As a result, the flexible study schedule permits students to take more classes per semester and earn a degree faster.

    Prior Learning Assessment

Each student has the opportunity to have their work experience count toward degree requirements through a process of Prior Learning Assessment.

NJIT Division of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) offers full-time working adults the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees, graduate certificates and non-credit professional development courses both in classrooms and online. As a "Top American Research University," as recognized by U.S. News & World Report, NJIT is a proven pioneer in innovation and advancement, making us uniquely suited to provide the educational foundation required in a technology-based economy.

    High Demand Areas of Study

Each area of study is considered a high demand career track as designated by the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development in their "Top 50 Jobs" brochure (see www.njnextstop.org). Thus, it is the goal of the program to enhance students' long-term career potential.
